Lesson Topic
Book 2, Lesson 2 Blends and Digraph Blends
Lesson Outline
Danny started the lesson playing Quick Drill in Reverse. He practiced all the vowels, He practiced the digraphs: th, sh, ch, ck, and the consonants: n,p,j,v,h. Danny practiced the welded sounds ank, ang, ung, onk, unk, ing. He still has a confusion between "th" and "f." It takes several repetitions and reminders of the sound production to get him to pair the right letter with the right sound. We will keep reviewing this. Danny read the words sells, shells, and banks for review. He identified the base word and suffix. He practiced the words with blends: grips, flips, frogs, plugs, and bands. Danny practiced the sight words: where and which using colorful markers on the whiteboard. Danny then took his dictation test. He needs a great deal of repetition of the sentence to remember what he is writing. Danny did write all sentences successfully and analyzed them. He was also able to apply a question mark correctly. Danny was charted on the nonsense words for 2.2 today also, because he showed readiness and I wanted to move him up a lesson for the new year. Danny will start in Book 2, Lesson 3. This is very good progress since I started him on Book 1, Lesson 3 in February. Danny loves the book Because of Winn Dixie. I hope he will continue to read it over the summer. It has been great working with Danny.

Lesson Comments
Danny is a very affable and polite student who is working very hard. He does have difficulty paying attention sometimes. I think this dreamy behavior is becoming less over time working on the Wilson program with me.
