This morning, Danny practiced showing equal parts of a whole as 2, 3, or 4 parts and described them as a half of, third of, or fourth of the shape. We also discussed the term quarter as a way to describe a fourth. Danny divided shapes to show the shown equal parts and colored one of the parts. Then, he applied equal shares to real world word problems by drawing diagrams to help divide shares into equal parts. We finished with the chapter test in which Danny used vocabulary terms to complete sentences, circled shapes that matched the angle, side, vertex rule, drew to show halves, thirds, and fourths, and named 2-D and 3-D shapes and their attributes.
