Environmental Science:
Ecosystem Structure -
Rory was tested on cell progression. Following the exam we discussed the structure of ecosystems, and how every member of the system has a niche. We listed some different types of niches and what happens when two species in an ecosystem compete. The rules of an ecosystem keep it healthy and sustainable and are considered natural laws. We compared them to the laws of physics, and discovered that natural laws (unlike physical laws) can be broken, but checks and balances worked into the ecosystem prevent it from happening. We call this the ‘carrying capacity’.
