We discussed how the US is divided into sections called regions, and that there are 5 regions: the West, Southwest, Northeast, Southeast, and the Midwest. We discussed how all but one use words known as cardinal directions and reviewed what they are. He learned the states in each region have common features, like natural resources or climate as a means by which to group them together or classify them into the regions. He then went on Google maps and we looked up various regions, sites, and neighborhoods. Jonathan worked together with a peer and they enjoyed looking up their homes and places they've lived on Google maps and we identified their regions.
