Sebastian began the session on Duo-Lingo - Basics 1. He logged a little bit of time reviewing the basics but his haste resulted in one or two avoidable errors, which he self-corrected. I reminded him that it is not a race and encouraged him to take a bit more time to review the options before making a selection - especially in the pairing exercise. We then created the introduction to a scenario in which he might find himself when visiting another country. We practiced our greetings and honorific salutation (to people whose names he knows, women, and men. We then practiced introducing ourselves, by name and asking , "Do you want to play with me? Voulez-vous jouer avec moi?" Sebastian had a grand old time mimicking my accent and he demonstrated a good ability to pronounce more challenging words (Wednesday, or mercredi). We had a fun and productive session. I am encouraged that Sebastian is becoming increasingly willing to respond in French, and to engage in dialogue, with increasingly better pronunciation of words.
