Jonathan worked with a peer this morning on a social studies assignment which asked him to choose a state to research, and to cite three main fun facts that most interested him. Jonathan chose to research the state of Texas. He learned that it is known as the Lone Star State, that one ranch in Texas (the King Ranch) is bigger than the entire state of Rhode island, that Austin is considered the music capital of the world, that the armadillo is the official state mammal, and that the soft drink, Dr. Pepper, was invented in Waco Texas 135 years ago. He was also interested in fun facts that were shared by his peer during this collaborative exercise.
