Lesson Topic
Ordering from shortest to longest
Lesson Outline
This morning, we went over Jonathan's homework and reviewed a tricky question. Jonathan immediately saw the reason for his error, which was that one end of the objects being ordered by length was not aligned. Once he noted that not all the objects were aligned the same, he immediately recognized which answer was correct and changed his answer. He then worked on problems tasking him with ordering objects by length and deciding if the amounts or sizes were greater than, less than, or = each other. Through guided instruction and practice, Jonathan is beginning to recognize and understand the need for standard units of measurement. We finished the session working on comparing greater, lesser, or equal amounts using the mathematical signs, >, <, and =. Jonathan did well with that and answered all the questions correctly when assessed. I sent the copy home with him in his blue binder.
