Will was given an assignment to write essays about a series of scientific articles. I introduced Will the abstract, which is the first paragraph of every scientific article. We selected the first article, and I helped Will find the hypothesis, results, and conclusions in the abstract. We then scanned the article for additional information (where the study took place, how the study was conducted, etc.). This way he did not have to burden himself to try to understand long passages about complex scientific research.
