This was our last session and I intended to help Jonathan complete the painting he started last week. In the meantime, the mom got excited about Bob Ross art so she bought a beginning kit with an instruction book and special Bob Ross paint and tools! She followed the book and completed her own painting of which she is very proud. I think that started Jonathan out with a defeatist attitude about how well he would do. I followed the instructions with him, but he needed help from his mom and she kind of took over the project! By the end of class Jonathan was melting down. It was too bad. I know that Jonathan likes some instruction but also needs the freedom to add his own ideas to the picture. Oh well. I told him I would prefer that he turns out like Picasso or Matisse, rather than Bob Ross.
