Lesson Outline
I began class with the following writing prompt: "In two or three sentences, describe Fortnite. What is the setting? What is the objective of the game." Ayden wrote two sentences; we edited them for spelling and subject/verb agreement. Next, we reviewed the vocabulary list. Yesterday's sentence writing led me to believe that Ayden struggles to identify whether the list's words are nouns, verbs, or adjectives. We spent some time identifying the part of speech of each.

I am pleased to report that Ayden did his homework and read Chapter 1. He summarized what happened, and we discussed the point of view and tone. We co-read Chapter 2.

Lesson Comments
We had momemtum so I stayed with English 11 for the duration of the session. I find that if I get Ayden interested in a book I will have his attention, and as you know, it takes a few chapters to get into a book. I will say that this is the perfect book for Ayden, and prescient of our times. It was recommended by Atlanta Visker, who I talked to today. I think that eventually she will be interested in working at Batt. Right now, her husband's business is in transition, one of her boys is home, and she is feeling overwhelmed (and a little burned out from Turtle River.). I will keep talking to her.
