Lesson Outline
Richard enjoyed listening to the first two chapters of 'Mouse Soup'. Focus was on characters, sequence, genre and print elements. He had fun writing in his journal about a trick he might play involving his 'baby brother'. We continue to practice onset fluency, isolating medial sounds and substituting, adding and deleting phonemes. He completed the color an l-blend activity. Richard practiced using the counting up strategy when solving one-digit subtraction problems. Days of the week, months of the year and skip counting by tens were all reviewed. Richard learned that halves must have two equal parts. He practiced identifying halves of pictures and sets.

Lesson Comments
In the book we are reading, the mouse plays tricks on other animals. Richard was asked to write about a trick he might play on someone. He was very considerate in trying to think of a trick that involved his brother, but would not hurt or scare him.
