Lesson Topic
Book 3, Lesson 4 Three-syllable words
Lesson Outline
Kellan began his lesson by practicing four sight words: fillet, control, buffet, and ballet. Kellan needed extra work to review the ending of the word: fillet. Kellan then read ten sentences on p. 62 with three-syllable words in the context. Kellan needed a little help on the word "assistant." Next, Kellan played Quick Drill in Reverse. Kellan practiced the sounds and letters for a, e, i, o, u, and schwa. Kellan practiced the spelling and sounds of sh, g, f, b, wh, y, x, z, v, and qu. Kellan practiced the sounds and spelling of the welded sounds: old, ind, ang, ank, onk, and unk. Next, Kellan marked up the words extracts, inflicts, and contacts. In these words, Kellan showed me that he knows how to find the base words and the suffix as well as scoop the two syllables. Kellan then worked on five words that were three-syllable: hobgoblin, establish, Atlantic, snapdragon, and punishment. Kellan worked on his dictation by spelling five sounds, five real words, five nonsense words, and five sight words. Kellan spelled: island, control, buffet, fillet, and want correctly. Next, Kellan wrote three sentences. He started his analysis and will finish it on Wednesday.
