Lesson Outline
Richard did well identifying which pictures contained the long I sound. We continue to practice rhyme production, initial and final sound identification and phoneme manipulation. Richard enjoyed a phonics game that involved reading words with the long vowel/final e spelling pattern. Richard listened to 'Arthur's Fire Drill'. I used this opportunity to review fire safety rules and what to do if there is a fire. Plot and print elements were identified and discussed. Richard practiced writing his name in the boxes drawn as a visual cue for letter sizing. Given a date, Richard learned how to determine the day of the week. We continue to practice naming coins and bills and their worth, as well as determining the monetary value of a group of coins.
