Lesson Topic
Greetings and pleasantries - formal and informal
Lesson Outline
We reviewed prior learning at the onset of our session. We reviewed common conversational ways to greet someone and exchange pleasantries. I explained formal vs. informal language codes, and we learned the most common formal and informal greetings in the French language. We practiced using nasal sounds in the pronunciation of certain words; the general rule is that when the consonant 'n' or 'm' appears after a vowel, the pronunciation of that word is nasal. We used the words 'bonjour' and Monsieur as examples as the former is pronounced 'Bo-(n:silent)-jour, and the latter "Mo-(n:silent)-sieur. We finished our academic session listening and repeating French pronunciation and spent the final 5 minutes playing a fun game of corn hole on this fun Friday afternoon.
