Lesson 4 Pure Substances and Mixtures: We learned that elements and compounds are two types of pure substances. We used the periodic table as a tool to classify elements based on their properties. We learned that chemical bonds cannot be easily broken or formed. Next we learned that pure substances cannot be broken down by physical changes. To break chemical bonds chemical change is required.
