Field Trip to Manatee Lagoon
Lesson Outline
We visited Manatee Lagoon. We observed wildlife such as manatees, sharks, small fish, turtles, and seabirds. We did a self-guided tour of their interactive exhibits. We learned about the migratory and feeding habits of manatees and why they hang out by the FPL plant in the winter months. We also discussed the impact of nutrient pollution on algae blooms, seagrasses, and the health of marine animals and humans. Cabo also learned how tracking devices are attached to manatees and about the use of solar trees in Florida.
