The President's Supreme Court Nominee Announcement
Lesson Outline
Today President Biden named U.S. Circuit Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson may become the first Black woman to serve on the nation’s highest court in its 233-year history. Jackson, a 51-year-old federal appeals court judge in Washington, D.C., has long been considered a frontrunner for the president’s first Supreme Court nomination. Because she was recently confirmed by the Senate with bipartisan support, her selection is a signal the White House is aiming for a drama-free confirmation – or, at the very least, a less messy fight than has been the case for recent nominees. Bella learned about the checks & balance process of how a Supreme Court nominee is chosen, vetted and approved to sit on the Supreme Court - which they do for life or until they choose to retire.

Lesson Comments
Bella said she didn't want to come to school today because she looked orange from a self-tanner she applied last night. During class her Dad brought her a sumptuous, homemade breakfast! I told Mr. Fatata it looked delicious!
