I subbed for Mercer's math teacher, so we had a second hour of language arts. He learned how to write the letter r in cursive using the words rain, bored, and star. We completed an activity with his vocabulary words for chapter 1-3 of, "The Indian in the Cupboard." We talked about creating a diorama for this literature book. We researched how to make a diorama, and what supplies we would need to complete this project. He picked out the main characters for his diorama, an Indian, a cowboy, and a horse.
