Lesson Topic
Compounds and mixtures
Lesson Outline
Define, explain and show examples of heterogenous mixtures and homogenous mixtures. Demonstrate how a heterogenous mixture can be converted into a homogenous mixture by combining chemically sulfur and iron.
Demonstrate examples of homogenous aqueous mixtures. Define solute, solvent, solubility, unsaturated, saturated, and super saturated. View the formation of a super saturated solution and then the precipitating out by the addition of only one extra crystal.
Examine emulsions of oil and water, and demonstrate the effect of using an emulsifying agent to prolong the emulsion.
