Elements of Drawing
Lesson Outline
Start Andrew's next still life drawing. This type of Still Life is called the Subtractive Method. So, using an 18x24 sheet of paper, cover it entirely with black compressed charcoal. Once covered, you use various erasers and blending tools to render the inverse of what you would normally draw. This can help us better see midtones and find highlights while not having to focus too much on shadows which are typically the first rendered and identified.
