I noted how the use off the diary form of narrative created empathy in the reader ,especially as the reader sees how people abuse Charlie Gordon for entertainment . Jaydn discussed how Charlie's so called friends take advantage of his mental disability, and we explored how one theme of the story is human cruelty toward those who are least able to defend themselves. I provided literary definitions of theme and of symbolism and explained how the mouse ,Algernon, also represents the protagonist ,Charlie Gordon. As Jaydn indicated she liked working on the study guide I had distributed, I had Jaydn in writing answer and then discuss her answers to two study guide questions.
