Jayden discussed the term "personification", and we located examples of this technique from last night's reading assignment. I then introduced the related term- perhaps more applicable to this novel-anthropomorphism. We discussed the use of anthropomorphism in the novel and in Disney movies and the critical response sometimes lodged against the use of this technique. We then again addressed the term "primordial" in the context of deciphering Buck's imaginings of primitive man. We read through this rather abstract passage ,and I assisted Jaydn in interpreting the description and its significance as Buck returns to his primordial self . We last noted further examples of "naturalism" as Buck is sold to new owners ,an event beyond his control.
