Lesson Comments
Joshua scored 94% on today's test. This is excellent! BUT...although all of his M/C answers were correct, his essay disappointing and he earned 10 out of 16 points on it. There are comments throughout so Joshua may understand what was missing or unclear. Considering Joshua had two days to work on this essay at home, it could have and should have been a stronger response. At this point in our course, Joshua should know that he must incorporate more historical examples and less general statements in his essays. He also knows that the highest AP points are earned and standards met by writing complex arguments in his written responses - especially long essay questions (LEQ) and date based questions (DBQ). When we review these skills in class, Joshua says he understands the examples and expectations and yet this essay did not reflect the skills about argumentation we have been working on for quite some time in this course. There needs to be more consistency with Joshua's writing and his penmanship, too as an AP reader/grader may have difficulty reading some of Joshua's writing. I strongly suggest that Joshua applies for extended time with the College Board for his AP World History: Modern AP exam. It's a long exam, 3.25 hours, but 2/3 of it is writing and Joshua may benefit from having some additional time.
