During our session we studied Act III vocabulary, reviewed the definitions of theme and irony ,and then applied the definitions to our reading of a portion of Act III. We explored the interactions between the dead and the living in light of Emily's comment that "live people don't understand anything." Jaydn further discussed textual examples of the townspeople's culture of ignoring social problems that led to Simon Stimson's suicide. After I placed some independent work/questions on our shared Google Docs page, Jaydn studied the text and began to draft written responses to the questions on theme and irony.
