Chapter 9 Real Numbers and the Pythagorean Theorem
Lesson Outline
We studied for a Quiz on 9.1 – 9.3. We reviewed evaluating expressions involving square and cube roots. These problems use the same skills we use to solve algebraic equations. We remembered that square roots can be negative and positive but cube roots are either one or the other but not both. We calculated the edges and surface area of cubes when we were given the volume. Next we used the Pythagorean Theorem to find a missing side or hypotenuse of a right triangle and to solve word problems. Then we used square roots, cube roots, and the Pythagorean Theorem in real-life applications. Hudson has a few extra problems to do and answers to check his results.
