Lesson Outline
Area of circles - We did an activity on finding the formula for area of a circle. We cut out a circle in 8 wedges by folding the circle in half, then half again. Arranged the wedges in a row, the new shape was a parallelogram. How does the base of the parallelogram relate to the circumference of the circle. How does the height of the parallelogram relate to the radius of the circle. Use the formula for the area of a parallelogram to estimate the area of the circle.
