The Watergate Scandal was a scandal involving a plot by President Richard Nixon and people working with him to spy on the Democratic headquarters in the time leading up to Nixon’s re-election campaign. The espionage was an attempt to gather information that could help him in this campaign. Conspirators had to break back in in order to correctly fix the the spy equipment, and they were arrested in the process.
