Lesson 2: The Geosphere - We learned about the materials in the geosphere. Minerals are the basic building blocks for soil, rocks, and metals in the geosphere. A mineral is a naturally occurring, inorganic solid that has a crystalline structure and a definite chemical composition. Next we learned that each mineral has unique physical properties, some of which can be used to identify a mineral.
