Lesson Outline
This was Liam's first day in school following the summer break. He was excited to tell me that he went to Italy over the summer. We took a short tour of the school to introduce him to new teachers and students, many of whom he remembered. After returning to class, we reviewed his schedule, teachers, and courses and began work on a bio poem, a short poem that may be either autobiographical or biographical in nature (we defined the terms). Liam's was to add details about his life using adjectives to complete open-ended sentences. He demonstrated good comprehension of the concept after I explained the function of adjectives in language and we went through a few examples. Liam correctly identified the adjectives in the sentences given. He completed the Bio Poem, given supportive prompts, using varied vocabulary. He followed directions well and has clear penmanship; Liam wrote neatly and legibly with little need for spelling assistance.

Lesson Comments
Liam is a bright boy whose thinking is tangential. He loves to share information and is inquisitive. Refocusing techniques were beneficial to facilitate his attention to the task at hand but he was responsive and complied with the re-direction well. He wrote neatly and legibly but admitted he does not like to write.
