Lesson Outline
Liam and I went over his homework at the onset of class. He completed it satisfactorily and I commended him on writing down his responses and his handwriting. Having finished the book, 'Sadako and the Thousand Cranes' Liam and I read instructions at the end of the book on how to create a crane using origami paper We began doing so while Liam responded to questions pertaining to the story, its characters, their dynamics, and the meaning and significance of the cranes. We enlisted the aid of our graphic arts teacher who modeled the paper-folding art of origami as Liam followed the demonstration and directions, using his own special origami paper. It took most of the period but was definitely worth the effort. Liam proudly displayed his crane to his friends and teachers at Batt and will take it home at the end of the day to show his parents. What a wonderfully creative culmination to our study of Sadako and the thousand Cranes.
