Explain how sediment will settle where two rivers or streams combine, and why. Discuss the oxygenation of turbulent water and the effect on the species of fish which can live there. Introduce lakes and ponds. Discuss the different zones of water beginning with the littoral, limnetic, profundal and benthic zones.
