Death of A Salesman
Lesson Outline
We contrasted how Willy ,Biff, and Happy perceive the achievability of the American Dream. In this regard, we further noted the Edenic motif that overlaps discussion of the American Dream as Willy continually reminisces about the trees, flowers ,and gardens that used to surround his home before it was surrounded by apartment buildings. Additionally, we explored how each character deals with his feeling of emptiness engendered by broken dreams-Willy by living in his memories, Happy by philandering, and Biff by stealing.
