In the lab prepare a supersaturated solution of sodium acetate. Follow exact measuring and heating procedures. Allow the solution to cool for 50 minutes between lab periods. Once cooled, produce a "hill" of sodium acetate by slowly pouring the solution over a small seed of sodium acetate in a watch glass. Carefully examine the growth of the crystal as it is poured.
