As Richard was to leave early for his eye appointment, it afforded us a good amount of time to review material that is covered in Richard's social studies exam. I presented the questions in different formats and styles - one which required a yes/no response and one which required a True/False response. The use of a variety of questioning strategies encourages Richard to tap his existing mental models, stimulate the recall of prior knowledge, promote expanded thinking, and build critical-thinking skills. Richard was amenable and responsive to the strategies I shared.
