Lesson Outline
This morning, Richard used a fraction tower to refresh the concept of fractions showing halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eighths, tenths, and twelfths. While working with the fraction cubes, Richard recognized that each fraction tower equaled one whole, parts become smaller as denominators increase, and that the cubes could be used to find equivalent fractions by making towers with equal heights. Then, we spent time outside naming fractions with various objects on the playground such as balls, trees, and garden plants.
