Avelina's mom did not return calls or texts despite several initiated to her to insure she remembered this appointment for a session. I contacted the school several times during the day, until 1:00 hoping to learn if the session was on as I had a possible medical appointment I had on hold and could have confirmed. Finally, at 1:30, I was contacted and told the mom was cancelling today's session but wished to make a schedule for next week. I think you'll agree that 2 hours notice is too short a time to inform teachers that a session has been cancelled. I had prepared for the session, gone to the library, took out two books for us to read ("The Trumpet of the Swan"), and had prepared a lesson plan. I believe compensation for today is justified. I understand the mom also canceled for Wednesday, 7/03, but 2 days notice is reasonable. I do not expect to be compensated for Wednesday. However, I did want this noted to clarify what I believe to be fair and in the hopes to better manage expectations. Thank you for your consideration.
