Lesson Outline
Today Joshua and I looked over a set of challenging ACT problems. We started with a problem that required the Pythagorean threorem and then the use of trig ratios. Joshua got practice reviewing factoring, a skill he’s always not had great confidence with. We saw a problem that had Joshua solving an absolute value equation. I showed him how working backwards with the answer choices would be a better approach than actually solving it algebraically, since that can be time consuming. We also discussed a strategy where if variables are not given values, to choose numbers to assign those variables and then work out the problem. Josh is is excellent shape to do his best tomorrow!
