Libby began with the number of the day activity. She practiced writing the number 6 in standard and word form, circled it on a number line, colored 6 base ten blocks, showed 6 in a 10 frame, and wrote the 1 less and 1 more digit. Then, we reviewed how to write the numbers 0 - 6 with a trace and write activity and she reviewed the number words with flashcards. Today's lesson compared groups to 5 by counting. Libby counted groups of items, wrote their totals, circled the greater amounts, and put an x on the lesser amounts.
