We continued to analyze the short story "The Untold Lie" as a vehicle for instruction focused on the function of characterization, and setting. Joshua identified textual passages that reveal and convey character ,and I explained how to draw inferences about character from textual details.. I We further explored the relationship between the awe inspiring autumn setting and the character's past longings as evidence of character . Last,I provided instruction on narration and identifying the role and limitations of the narrator. From this instruction, I led into our next analysis of The Great Gatsby by placing three analytical questions on the board that will be due on Wednesday. I again defined and explained narrator's perspective , or view of the world based on his history and past, and illustrated an example from the novel where tone conveys the narrator's perspective.
