We worked on editing and rewriting Joshua's two essays on Cranes'"The Open Boat." First, we addressed the introduction to the essay on the sea as a character in the story whose function conveys theme. I demonstrated how to reorder the opening paragraph and where to add a critical plot event in order to highlight the story's theme of Nature's indifference to Mankind's misfortunes. We further discussed the due AP classroom work which provides the opportunity to practice AP MCQ's on the topics we are studying. Joshua spent the last minutes of class rewriting his essay.
