Jason worked on single-digit addition problems in class today. He answered correctly when queried but said he was becoming "stressed" when asked to complete a minute-math exercise, so I modified the activity and Jason completed the assignment orally. Jason was very impressed when he answered a multiplication question I added in the mix, and he laughed hysterically when my mouth dropped open in an exaggerated fashion to indicate how impressed I was with his mathematical skill.
