As Joshua encountered some difficulty in yesterday's poetry analysis test, today we first reviewed the poem . I explained the poem's somewhat cryptic exploration of the l connection between the material and the spiritual world, and the relationship of that connection to God's eternity. I then introduced our next unit, long fiction, by on the board outlining the elements of character: bias, values ,and motivation. I further addressed how characters can be representative of cultural values which may be in conflict with the individual's values. I defined "ethos" and zeitgeist " in the context of conflicts between the individual and society.
