Today we worked on representing and explaining subtraction with equations. Libby used the number line and connecting cubes to model problems and wrote equations to find differences. Then, to reinforce the lesson, we played "restaurant" together. We took turns ordering heart cookies or popcorn from the menu. The addition mat was used to find the total number of food items ordered and the subtraction mat to find the amount of food left after eating some.
