Topic 8 Solve Problems Involving Surface Area and Volume
Lesson Outline
Topic 8-1 Find Surface Area of Three-Dimensional Figures – We learned that formulas for finding the areas of polygons such as rectangles, squares, triangles, and circles can be used to find the surface areas of cylinders, cones, and spheres.
Topic 8-2 Find Volume of Cylinders – We applied our understanding of volume to cylinders. We learned that like prisms, cylinders have parallel, congruent bases. Therefore, the volume of a cylinder can be determined by multiplying the area of the base by the height of the cylinder.
