Lesson Topic
Chapter 3 Decimals and Equations
Lesson Outline
3-1 Rounding and Estimating – We learned to round decimals and estimate sums and differences. We learned that with front end estimation we add the numbers in the leftmost place, round the numbers after the decimal and add the results. Then we learned how to perform estimating by clustering.
3-2 Estimating Decimal Products and Quotients – We learned that rounding is an important step in estimating products. Then we learned that estimating the answer can help you recognize unreasonable answers. Next, we learned that estimating is often used in real-world problem solving.
3-3 Mean, Median, and Mode – We learned to read a table to extract the needed information or data. We added definitions for the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data to our math journal.
Assignment: Complete problems from 3-3 in textbook.
