Chapter 3 Decimals and Equations
Lesson Outline
3-6 Solving Equations by Multiplying or Dividing Decimals – We learned to solve 1-step decimal equations involving multiplication and division. Then we discovered the Division and Multiplication Properties of Equality are used to solve equations involving multiplication and division no matter what type of numbers they contain: integers, decimals, fractions, etc.
3-7 Using the Metric System – We learned to identify appropriate metric measures to convert to metric units. Then we learned that nearly all the countries of the world use the metric system for measurement. The meter is defined as the distance a certain wavelength of light travels in a certain fraction of a second. The kilogram is defined as the mass of a certain platinum-iridium sphere that is kept in France. A liter is 1000 cm³ or 1 cubic decimeter.
