Chapter 4 Factors, Fractions, and Exponents
Lesson Outline
4-1 Divisibility and Factors – We learned to use divisibility tests to find factors. An integer is divisible by 2 if it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8. If an integer ends in 0 or 5 it is divisible by 5. If it ends in 0 it is divisible by 10. Then we learned that an integer is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3. Next, we learned that an integer is divisible by 9 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 9.
4-2 Exponents – We learned to use exponents and the order of operations with exponents. An exponent is a number placed to the upper right of a base number. Then we learned that if an exponent has as its base and expression involving addition or subtraction the whole expression must be written inside parentheses.
