I began with visual, auditory, and blending drills, addressing all letters and digraphs. I re-taught the silent 'e' rule; Libby does not yet grasp this concept. For regular spelling, I dictated" stop, lot, wish, chop. For irregular words, I dictated: this, his. To conclude, we read several chapters of a graphic novel that Libby brought from home, "Baby-Sitters Little Sister" by Ann M. Martin.
