Lesson Outline
I tested Patrick out of Ch1: Identifying numbers to 12 and Ch 2: Ordering numbers to 12 while observing Patrick while we interacted through math games the first two weeks of school. With that said, we began his math book on Ch. 3 instead, Adding. Today, we worked on the concept of Making 6 and 7, word problems containing sums to 6 and 7, and memorizing the math facts that create a sum of 6 and 7. He enjoys memorization and excels at building a good knowledge bank. He is successful at recalling things he has learned. As a warm up, I had him recall the facts that make 10 that he learned the other day. He did so with 100% mastery. Prior to that day, he only knew one. He occasionally has difficulty with counting on, 5+2 5, 6, 7. He will say, "5, 2....and get mixed up) I use a number line for him as a manipulative to see the numbers that come after the one he announces, which helps.
