Ten Facts, Make a Ten, Review/Test; snack
Lesson Outline
Patrick learned how to solve ten facts by singing the jingle: Any time you add a number to a 10, it becomes a teen, 10 + 6 = 16 (sixTEEN) I wrote the facts on the board so he could visually see the addend take over the 0 in the number 10. We also practiced these facts verbally to reinforce auditory processing, in which he did equally well. He needed to see how it happened first to be successful the other way. He learned how to make a 10 with a 9 as one of the addends. (ex: 9+5, becomes 10+4, after moving 1 up) Once he mastered that he was able to make a 10 with an 8 as one of the addends. (ex: 8+6, becomes 10+4, after moving 2 up) He earned a 100% on his review and math test. Please sign and return. Patrick did incredibly well on this chapter, in spite the two-step concepts! My only concern was with him counting on using basic facts. At times, he would be off by 1 or 2.
